Learning Objectives: FITNESS STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES 1. Demonstrate knowledge of fitness concepts and principles. PER 1 a. Define the terms fitness and wellness and explain how they relate to personal, mental and physical development. GEC 5 b. Identify fitness related health issues that reflect contemporary trends locally, nationally and internationally. GEC 5 c. Identify the relationship between fitness and health-related disease prevention. d. Identify current events or trends in the fitness industry. e. Identify the 18 major muscles of the body. f. Identify methods of incorporating good nutrition habits. g. Identify methods to adapt fitness training to diverse populations. 2. Implement strategies for improving the five health-related components of fitness and demonstrate skillful movement in a variety of physical activities (See Appendix A for evaluation). NCDPI 1.3 3. Complete an Exercise Program and demonstrate personal competence and improvement in health-related components of fitness (See Appendix B for evaluation). NCDPI 1.2

Technical Requirements: Course Requirements: A. Each student will be required to participate in all classes both physical and non-physical. B. Each student will be required to wear athletic/workout attire for all classes both physical and non-physical. C. Each student will be expected to attend class regularly and promptly. Students not adhering to the university attendance policy will be dropped for non-attendance or earn a grade of F for the semester. D. Each student will be required to purchase and read the required text. E. Each student will be required to complete numerous lab assignments throughout the semester. All lab assignments must be submitted on time. F. Each student will be evaluated using quizzes, a midterm, and a final examination. G. No cell phones during class time.
