Levels: Undergraduate, Undergraduate Second Degree, Undergraduate Third Degree, Licensure Only, Undergraduate Regular Campus Lecture Schedule Type Traditional Instructional Method Learning Objectives: Performance skills for vocal soloists with small jazz combo. Vocal jazz repertoire covered and basic vocal & rhythm section arranging techniques covered. A course designed to examine the various aspects of jazz performance in a small group setting (5-7 members). This course will provide students with the proper laboratory experience that will enable them to refine theoretical and performance practices. Major emphasis will be placed upon the study of stylistic and improvisational trends by select small group performers from Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, and Ella Fitzgerald, Jon Hendricks and others. Required Materials: No text required Technical Requirements: Music Majors only.
